NorthTec (Tai Tokerau Wānanga) is the largest tertiary education provider in northern New Zealand and is pivotal to the region's future success. NorthTec's main campus is in Raumanga, Whangarei with another four learning centres in the Northland region as well as an international campus in Auckland. NorthTec provides over 100 programmes ranging from certificate, to diploma and degree levels.

The position of Director Business Solutions reflects the importance of developing and leading a team of multi-disciplined professionals in providing future facing strategic advice, analysis and support to the Chief Executive and wider NorthTec Business. The relatively new commercially focused team will be working with the business on key projects, adding value through timely analysis and reporting of lead information and business performance.

The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership to the following teams:

• Finance
• Information Communications Technology
• Facilities
• Organisational Wellness
• Business Partnerships (Business performance analysis and advisory support)

Key outcome responsibilities will include the following:

• Provision of accurate, timely and compliant financial reporting that meets internal and external requirements
• Provision of insightful information and data that informs accurate decision making using lead indicators
• Creation of accessible and innovative system solutions and 21st century learning environments (Infrastructure/Facilities) to support the 21st Century Learning, Teaching and Assessment (Ako) framework
• Supporting the development and delivery of a sustainable business model that is aligned to the educational purpose for Tai Tokerau Wānanga
• Provision of a holistic wellness programme for staff and students, incorporating Health and Safety support and services

The position is based at NorthTec's Raumanga campus in Whangarei.

We are looking for candidates who have the skills, knowledge and passion to maximise the potential of, and outcomes for, NorthTec and our students.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:

• Successful and proven strategic leadership skills at executive level, and the ability to develop high performing teams
• Excellent stakeholder and relationship management ability
• Knowledge and understanding of Te Ao Maori, or a clear intent to develop this
• The ability to work in multicultural environments with a personal drive to engage and make a difference to the Maori and Pasifika communities
• Strong background where innovation is a core capability
• Strong client relationship skills
• Whilst not essential experience in a senior financial management position would be advantageous
