THE ROLE:

As a Procurement Specialist, you will responsible for the procurement of a whole range of direct goods for resale and indirect categories within Carters. You will be key in developing sourcing strategies and facilitating the strategic negotiation of commercial contracts. Other responsibilities include:

  • Understanding the end-to-end value chain to reduce costs, namely savings negotiated and improving margins
  • Supporting category management to source the right products for customers whilst optimising our purchasing power through superior negotiation skills
  • Reviewing old/existing contracts under the new terms; owning the contracts, their terms and financial incentive schedules
  • Engaging with key suppliers at a strategic level and brainstorming ways in which to add value to our customers
  • Carrying out special projects as and when required

WHAT YOU NEED:

You will be equipped at best practise negotiation processes that follow our procurement strategy and drive efficiencies within the procurement team. Overall you will need:

  • You'll have solid Commercial Business Acumen with a driven approach to your work and you will be passionate about reducing costs within our business
  • Influencing and negotiation skills with experience in complex contract and 'total supply cost'/pricing negotiations
  • Strong Stakeholder management abilities; running multiple supplier negotiations at one time but driving all negotiations to an end in a timely manner
  • You will thrive in a fast paced environment in getting costs out through tenders and renegotiations of contracts
  • A number of years' experience within a similar role, preferably in the construction or retail industry
  • Quantitative and analytical talents with attention to detail
  • High level of proficiency in MS Suite
  • This role may suit someone who is looking to step up to this next level
