Our client is well placed to grow in a market that is set to expand significantly in the coming years. This New Zealand owned and operated company produces high quality pre-fabricated buildings for sale and rental to a variety of sectors including schools, barracks, office blocks and commercial entities as well as building complete dwellings. New Zealand is experiencing a housing shortage and construction demand that looks set to continue for many years. The company is committed to growth and is continually investing in people and new products to take advantage of these favourable market conditions.
The role of Production Manager is a newly created role reporting to the Managing Director and will be part of the management team. Specific responsibilities will include:-

▪ Working with the management team to support and develop company strategy.
▪ Manage a diverse team to deliver a quality product.
▪ Proactively manage subcontractors to ensure efficient and cost effective supply.
▪ Budget preparation and approval.
▪ Overseeing the production process, drawing up a production schedule, planning capacity with respect to forecast and customer demand.
▪ Accountable for the end product to the customer.
▪ Ensuring production is cost effective and continuously improving.
▪ Monitoring product standards and implementing quality-control programs.
▪ Implement and drive continuous improvement activities through LEAN Manufacturing and 5S.
▪ Support the Managing Director with sales planning and delivery schedules.
▪ Reviewing the performance of Team Leaders and work force.
▪ Deliver leadership and development to the team.
  
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience of manufacturing processes. Some experience of construction would be useful but more importantly an understanding of best practice for an efficient factory. Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing and 5S would be particularly useful. It is also vital that the Production Manager has the interpersonal skills to lead and motivate the team.
