About the Job

Log scaling is an NZQA accredited job, where a structured training programme can gain you a recognised qualification. You don’t have to of worked in this type of role before either as training is provided. On offer are casual positions.

The Checkpoint where the Log Scalers work is located at the port and is a facility where logging trucks come to have their logs measured and ticketed ready for export. The Log Scaler manually “scales” or measures each log using an international standard, then barcodes the log and scans it into our system so that every single log can be tracked wherever it is.

The Checkpoint is a team environment where the safety of our staff is paramount. Shifts can be up to 12 hours in length with some weekend work and you need to be flexible with working hours as shift times can vary.
