Your Opportunity

Stantec’s Urban Planning & Environmental Services team has an immediate opportunity for a Stakeholder Engagement Consultant to join our New Zealand-wide team, position in Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch. The purpose of this role is to provide professional stakeholder engagement and communications advice to our clients. The role will involve regular domestic travel.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Assist internal project teams and our clients to effectively engage and communicate with stakeholders and the community from planning through to consenting and construction of infrastructure projects.
• Develop, implement and report on communications and engagement plans.
• Continually enhance client relationships and input into marketing proposals.
• Coach and mentor staff to advance the stakeholder engagement service line within Stantec.
• Be an integrated member of the group contributing to the wider company, and undertaking briefings, presentations, training sessions and other activities as required.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• Extensive knowledge of stakeholder engagement and corporate communications methods.
• A strong understanding of consultation principles.
• Working knowledge of the Resource Management Act.
• Advanced client service and communication skills to promote and foster relationships.
• Demonstrated skills to produce accurate proposal estimates, project budget costs, consulting fee estimates.
• Advanced ability to identify, analyse and respond to operational and/or community issues.
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills to act with tact, diplomacy and discretion.
• Strong ability to act proactively to avoid situations that may result in negative outcomes.
• Well-developed ability to work with diverse personalities and work styles.

Education and Experience

• As a minimum you will have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification and preferably hold an IAP2 certificate. 
• 5 years’ experience in consulting, government or industry, and specialising in stakeholder and community engagement and communications with exposure to the consenting process and social impact assessments.
