Detail information about job Community Services Planner. Terms and conditions vacancy

•    Strategic planning of community services, facilities and open space
•    Translating policy into tangible and well-coordinated plans and contributing to the development of tools and practice guidelines

Community Services is focused on delivering outstanding community experiences and outcomes for Aucklanders. Through great services, partnerships and by improving utilisation of our libraries, arts and community facilities, pools and leisure centres and open space assets we seek to make a difference in the lives of Aucklanders and the communities they live in.

The opportunity

We're looking to change the game through understanding service needs and adapting our approach to ensure we continue to serve our city and community effectively.

Our team forms an integral part of delivering our Auckland Plan; we form the linking function between our Policy and Community Services and Facilities delivery teams.  You'll be part of a team developing planning and master planning documents, strategic service and asset management plans and undertaking strategic assessments to support the provision of community facilities, places and services.

You'll be focused on working collaboratively to identify strategic opportunities and provide high quality strategic advice and recommendations for the future provision of Auckland's community facilities and open spaces.

Key to this role will be your analytical, communication and facilitation skills and your ability to build and maintain relationships.  You'll also be working with other council directorates and council-controlled organisations (CCOs) on strategic projects to transform Auckland, so this is an exciting opportunity where you know your contributions will be valued and make a difference!

About you

We're looking for someone to work on projects with grunt and drive them to delivery and contribute to the development of a suite of practice tools that are simple and effective. You'll bring a fresh and innovative mind-set, excellent interpersonal skills and experience in developing structured, quality advice, with the ability to influence.

It's essential that you have an interest in community outcomes and how to plan service delivery effectively, along with an aspiration to make the most of our parks, open spaces and community facilities. Whatever your background, you'll need to understand the bigger picture of operational delivery and have the ability and confidence to respectfully challenge the status quo whilst contributing to the implementation and development of our plans.

If you offer experience working with or in local government, a tertiary qualification in a related field such as Community Services planning, facilities or property management, strong stakeholder management skills and excellent written and oral communication we’d like to hear from you. An understanding of tikanga and Te Reo Maori is also advantageous.

What we offer

This is an exciting new role that is akin to working as an in-house consultant. You'll enjoy exposure to a vast variety of work, working across multiple business units within Council.  You'll also be welcomed into a friendly team and empowered by a manager who supports self-directed autonomy in this role.

This is a fantastic opportunity to build your professional brand. If you've got the expertise and qualities we're looking for, apply now!

Please note, the official title for this role is Service and Asset Planner

Applications close Wednesday, 25th July.

Auckland Council is an equal opportunity employer (EOE) and we are committed to providing a working environment that embraces and values diversity and inclusion. If you have any support or access requirements, we encourage you to advise us at the time of application to assist you through the recruitment process.
