The Council's City Development team has a position available for a Strategic Property Advisor.

This team facilitates the planning and delivery of Council-led projects that support healthy, happy communities. This work includes land purchases to support the growth and infrastructure projects in greenfields and brownfields areas, including parks and other community-focused developments, and roads and other city infrastructure needs. This is a challenging, diverse and rewarding role, which encompasses a wide range of property and development matters. This role involves engaging with land owners and the development community, and working closely with the wider council organisation and other technical experts to deliver development outcomes.

We are looking for someone who has a tertiary qualification in property, planning, law, social sciences or other relevant fields and preferably local government exposure. Ideally, you will be an experienced professional, but consideration will be given to a suitable person who could be at the beginning of their career, as they can learn from our highly experienced team.

We are looking for someone with the following;

  • Proven ability in property, planning, law or other relevant local or central government fields
  • Knowledge of the growth and development issues Tauranga is facing, and the cultural, social, and economic context for our work
  • Knowledge of Public Works, Reserves, Local Government, Resource Management and building/construction legislation - highly desirable
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Positive and self-motivated

You will also be someone who is a strong communicator, works collaboratively, is an agile problem solver with good business acumen, and will make a positive contribution to the team.
