The opportunity
Local Boards make decisions for their communities; they provide leadership and engage with members of the public on local issues. Auckland Council's shared governance structure reflects the fact that both local boards and the governing body play an equally significant role spanning across most local government services and activities.
Manurewa Local Board
Services team supports the local board to represent the centres of Wiri industrial estate, Manurewa East, Homai, Clendon Park, Hill Park, Randwick Park, The Gardens, Rata-Vine, Totara Heights, Manukau Heights and the coastal suburbs of Weymouth and Wattle Downs.
About you
Certainly, you will be a politically savvy strategic thinker who can problem solve to be able to provide impeccable policy and strategy advice to support the local board in their decision-making. Having initiative and an enthusiasm to work closely with the local board to help address issues and aspirations of local communities is at the heart of this role. Ability to juggle various issues at a time along with the ability to work under pressure is important to be successful in this position.
What we offer
In return, you’ll be immersed in a team of governance experts with a thirst for enabling the local board to address the needs of the people of South Auckland. This role will develop your governance expertise and exposure as a quality advisor of local decision makers. You will be required to work 40 hours per week with flexibility in start and finish time as there may be local board and community meetings that you will need to attend during the evenings.
