The opportunity

In this two-year programme, you'll be at the heart of where the big decisions are made.  You will develop your skills in areas like political acumen, relationship-building, organisation, working collaboratively and engagement.

You will have the opportunity to rotate through key teams within the Democracy department, which may include political meetings and support, Local Board Services, business support, privacy and Official Information Requests and Catering.

This graduate programme is a unique opportunity to gain exposure and experience in the dynamic field of Democracy Services within a team focused on our vision – for Auckland to be a world-class city.

About you

To be eligible to apply, you must have the following:

  • Be eligible to work in New Zealand, or be eligible to apply for a Post-Study Work Visa
  • A relevant Bachelor degree or postgraduate qualification obtained in the last two years, or be a current student and graduating before the end of January 2019.

We are looking for graduates with a qualification in a relevant field, such as, but not limited to, the following political science, law, public management or administration, sociology, economics.

Any experience working within a community group or liaising with a range of community groups would be very valuable - so please ensure you mention this in your application.
