Detail information about job Financial Communicator. Terms and conditions vacancy

You are

An energetic, clever all-rounder - you should be comfortable with acting as a CFO, a financial controller, a treasurer, and a bookkeeper.

You don't need to be a qualified accountant for this role.

We are

A small business with ambition, serving the occupational health industry with one division (Sober Check) and running the alcohol interlock programme in New Zealand with the other (Smart Start Interlocks).

We work in a modern office environment in the breathtaking countryside, just two minutes from town.

We offer specialists & tests and major medical health insurance for anyone who's been with us for more than three months, all pre-existing conditions waived.

We're looking for

Someone who has a very clear picture of how the finance function should run in a small/medium business, with the chop to make it happen.

You'll be driving the ongoing transformation of the finance function as the business grows and the requirements change.

Leadership, management and accountability should come easily to you: delegating tasks, holding people accountable to have them completed to the standard required, and assisting and upskilling others.

This will be a part-time role, however we can increase your hours if you help out in other areas of the business.

Your responsibilities

  • Work out standard costings and budgets for each area
  • Prepare daily, weekly and monthly metrics and reports
  • Build systems for inter-entity invoicing
  • Simplify procedures and train others in them
  • Build cashflow forecasts and keep an eye on them ongoing
  • Disseminate financial intelligence through the company, at every level
  • Prepare weekly payroll
  • Constantly be the 'temperature gauge' for if we're on or off track to achieve our goals.

You'll be in an open-plan office environment with different areas for phone calls, discussion, and focused work.

How to apply

Submit your CV and cover letter!

To really impress us, you can talk about the following in your cover letter:

  • We've got a holding company on-charging expenses (such as rent, etc) to child companies; charging expenses to the right entity and ensuring they're on-invoiced is a constant challenge. Give a brief rundown on the advantages of this structure, and the disadvantages we should be wary of.
  • How would you approach instilling financial knowledge into coworkers, so we all make good financial decisions?
  • How would you approach creating standards for ensuring consistent bookkeeping? What might these standards look like?
