Help us build New Zealand! The New Zealand Distribution Division brings together our retail and distribution chains and operates as New Zealand's leading and largest supplier of building materials to the local commercial and residential construction markets.


As a result of the incumbent stepping up into a Category Manager role, we are seeking someone to join the Merchandise team based in our National Office in Penrose. This role will see you supporting two of our leading Category Managers, along with our stores and suppliers to help continually grow the Building Products categories within the PlaceMakers and Forman Building Systems banners.

Your core function will focus around providing product and promotional support for our stores and delivering key initiatives across a portfolio of products. You will own and maintain all product information and make careful use of pricing analysis and market trends to determine the best product range for our stores. You will be assisting the wider team in sourcing the right products whilst optimising our purchasing power through your effective negotiation skills. This is a fantastic opportunity to play an influential role to drive brands and products and improve customer engagement.

Your ability to build meaningful working relationship is essential. You will be a great communicator and enjoy speaking with people from all walks of life as this role will see you dealing closely with our branch operators as well as retail staff. You will also have solid influencing skills engaging with key suppliers at a strategic level and brainstorming ways to add value to our customers.

You will have a driven approach to your work and will be innovative and passionate about developing exciting promotional strategies to improve performance of our categories. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment and be capable of running several promotional activities with different branches at one time but driving all tasks to an end in a timely manner.

You are expected to be systems savvy and have a high level of proficiency in MS Office Suite. As you will be managing key product information, you must have strong analytical skills with attention to detail. Relevant experience within a similar role, preferably in the building supplies industry would be ideal.
