New World Porirua currently seeks a talented and passionate Cake Decorator to join a hardworking team and a very successful Bakery department. The Job: The successful applicant will have a talent for cake decorating and a passion for perfection. We are seeking a candidate who has a creative flare and is willing to share their ideas. A typical day in this position involves filling our display cabinet with classic cakes, themed cakes, special occasion cakes and a variety of cupcakes. You will also be taking special orders from our customers, requiring imagination and the ability to interpret their dream cake. Each day you will be preparing for the next, requiring you to be organised and manage your own time efficiently. A 4am start will involve baking various cakes and gaining skills in other areas of the bakery, such as bread making. From time to time you will be responsible forassisting in all areas of the bakery. The Requirements: The successful applicant will need to be proficient in cake decorating, piping, icing, writing and have an eye for detail. Previous cake decorating experience is a must, as you will be required to work independently at times. Customer service experience is at the very heart of this position, you will need to be confident in your abilities, in order to offer a personalised cake. The successful applicant will be reliable, be able to make one early start and ideally be flexible to the demands of a busy department. The Hours: Tues: 9 –5.30pm Wed: 4 –12.30pm Thurs: 9 –5.30pm Fri: 9 – 6.30pm Sat: 10 –6.30pm Note: The 4am start can be transferred to a different day to suit the successful applicant.
