Our client is a well known and loved retail organisation. There are branches throughout NZ, with the local head office based in Mangere.
This organisation has recently successfully updated and expanded their retail offering. Business is going well and they are looking to expand into more regions in NZ in the short to medium term.
They have a warm and friendly culture. They work hard, but the environment is relaxed and welcoming.
Due to a departure they are now looking for an Accountant to work circa 32 hours per week. The days/hours worked are flexible and can be shaped to suit other commitments. The role would be ideal for a parent returning to the work force or a mature student.
Responsibilities include
- Preparation of financial statements
- Balance sheet reconciliations
- Accruals, prepayments and month end journals
- Sales analysis for the local market
- Taxes, including review of PAYE and GST
- Bank reconciliations
- Liaising with the business to educate and impart financial knowledge
This role will be perfect for someone who is coming straight out of practice and wants to cut their teeth in a commercial environment. It will give you exposure to a high volume / transactional environment and strong understanding of business drivers, as well as a solid footing into Financial and Management Accounting the commercial world.
Your profile
- At the very least degree qualified, ideally with a further qualification such as ACA, CA or CPA
- Strong communication with high EQ and the ability to develop strong relationships within the business
- Proactive: show initiative and take ownership of the day to day financial accounting duties
- Ability to work in a high volume, transactional environment
- Strong excel skills
- Organised and structured with the ability to review and improve processes
