Role Description : Barista and Retail Assistant 

Primary Role Overview

A role that is focused on great coffee and food service in our food hub instore, as a place for our customers to find delicious food options that can cater to a variety of food needs as well as be a place to try new items. It’s a café type environment where warm and friendly customer service engages our customers and encourages them to make the trip more regularly than just when they are doing their usual shopping.

Working days/hours: As rostered  

Key Skills: Operationally

Exceptionally customer service driven operationally and behaviourally. 

Good hygiene practices and understanding of working to a Food Control plan in connection to hygiene and best practices for handling foods, allergens, etc. 

A good understanding of the requirements of health and safety in regards to the working flow and handling goods.

A good understanding of the day to day operations of the food hub.

Key Skills:

Qualified barista with good coffee making skills.

Food service experience.

Good time management skills in order to ensure daily and weekly tasks are completed.

Organised and customer focused.

Fast paced but methodical.

Good communicator.

Highly approachable and friendly.

A keen desire to grow and learn.

Passion for organics and sustainability.  

Key Qualifications/Experience 

Has barista experience, as well as café or food service experience and understands that good warm service creates return custom. They do not see the counter as a barrier but as a means to engage and involve the customer. Has food handling experience and knowledge relating to working under a FCP.  

Day to Day tasks Include:

Provide high level customer service that is knowledgeable of the food hubs offerings.

Production of high quality Coffee.

Deals with customer complaints to find the best possible outcome and resolution

Works with the team to complete daily stock management routines of  the department that may include purchasing, waste and markdown management, stock holding, invoicing and inwards goods processes and availability

Work as part of the team to ensure marketing policies throughout the department are implemented in a timely fashion and that customers are exposed to them in a variety of methods.

Will consistently work to high standards in the department to ensure that the area is at all times well cleaned and organised, will work to and follow up all cleaning schedules and will ensure completion of all FCP related tasks, that customer needs are meet to a high level at all times-every time.

Ensures they work to the compliance level on all aspects of Health and Safety and Food Safety to provide a safe working and shopping environment for our customers , themselves and others they work with.
