This role plays an integral part in enabling the team, through sound leadership and strategic direction, to source and select exciting ranges for our customers, resulting in improved sales and margin for the business.

 

Reporting to the General Manager – Head to Toe, you will be responsible for delivering a positive P&L through strong inspiring leadership, building and maintaining a positive culture and conveying a mix of strategic and operational excellence. Added to this you will be a strategic thinker, have outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills and will thrive on developing your team to be the best they can be.

 

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing, coaching and developing the team to a high performing standard
  • Maximising the delivery of your key objectives including financial, customer, process, range and stock management, price and promotion, and team and community.
  • Working with your Lead Buyers/Buyers on their range curation, and keeping the customer front of mind.
  • Together with the Commercial Planning team you will develop and implement the strategic direction of the categories.
  • Analysing product trends and making recommendations for improvement.
  • Supporting the creation and execution of the trading calendar.
  • Delivering on high priority business improvement strategies and projects.
  • Optimisation of margin through promotional planning, clearance, supplier selection and offshore sourcing opportunities.

 

We are looking for someone with:

  • An extensive retail background at a senior management level.
  • Strong commercial acumen and in-depth knowledge of the apparel & fashion market.
  • Experience with off-shore sourcing and production, and supplier/factory liaison.
  • A customer driven focus combined with vast experience of retail buying.
  • Superior communication and proven leadership skills.
  • Decisiveness in a fast-moving and matrix environment.
  • Excellent internal and external stakeholder management skills.
  • A resilient and driven nature.

 

Ideally you will come from a fast-paced and matrixed organisation and can demonstrate a history of positive business outcomes through your leadership, relationship building, commercial acumen and knowledge of wholesale sourcing.
