We're looking for an experienced media and communications professional to join our Communications and Engagement Team.

This role reports to the Head of Public Affairs and will work alongside a team of experienced and dedicated communications professionals.

You will be based at National HQ, Auckland, or Hamilton Office, and will have a designated portfolio to own which will involve regular travel. Excited?

This is a rare opportunity to join a nationwide communications team working in a fast-paced emergency services and health services sector. St John responds to half a million emergency calls each year and provides emergency ambulance services to 97% of New Zealand along with a range of activities that build community resilience to the whole country.

This role..

Is responsible for advising and delivering informed, specialist internal and external communications with a particular focus on raising the profile of St John within the assigned portfolios (Regional and Functional) and keeping our people, public and stakeholders connected and informed.

Developing strong relationships with local and national media will be essential to help successfully manage media requests and drive proactive coverage. Equally important will be building strong relationships with our teams and committees to develop communication plans that support the regional implementation of national projects and initiatives.

As part of this, you'll need to keep our people feeling connected and informed of developments and change by delivering internal communications that support a strong culture.

To be successful..

In this challenging and dynamic role, you will need to have proven experience in communications and media relations.

You will have well-developed networking and influencing skills, as well as a strong expertise in communication planning and execution, and a flair for social media.

Ideally you will hold a relevant degree in media or communications or have extensive hands-on experience in this area.

Most of all, you would need to be passionate about joining an organisation which provides a valuable role in New Zealand communities.
