In order to deliver on its strategic objectives in way that supports the legitimacy of the organisation to operate -  given its role within the community, environment and local-political landscape - LPC has established the role of Strategic Engagement Manager.

 About the opportunity

Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Strategic Engagement Manager is a key member of the Executive Management Team and is actively involved in strategic level decision making. With accountability for facilitating organisational outcomes through the effective and proactive management of stakeholder relationships and engagement; the Strategic Engagement Manager will:

  • Develop and implement an engagement strategy that contemplates the broadest impact of the organisation on stakeholders and defines the right approaches to ensure deep and successful relationships are built and that these facilitate achievement of objectives;
  • Provide right-hand support to the Chief Executive and the Board to ensure appropriate stakeholder engagement and messaging is developed to achieve objectives;
  • Proactively identify business risks and develop and implement strategies in an engagement and communications context to mitigate these;
  • Lead the environmental team; ensuring appropriate engagement and communication strategies are implemented to support environmental initiatives and compliance;
  • Lead the communications team, including external consultants; ensuring strategic and operational communications and messaging support and enable the strategic objectives of the organisation;
  • Contribute as a high performing member of the Executive Management Team; supporting overall strategic planning and implementation alongside the EMT and the Chief Executive;

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have extensive experience in developing and managing stakeholder relationships and engagement – ideally with central and local government, iwi, community groups and commercial stakeholders. A tertiary qualification combined with strong commercial experience; you will have developed your career across industries and organisations; proactively tackling business risks, overcoming complex organisational challenges and implementing forward thinking strategies all in support of achieving strategic objectives.

Energetic and passionate yet mature and considered; people will describe you as the “calm in the storm” during a crisis – providing insight and leadership to secure solutions. People focused and an exceptional communicator; you will be known for your ability to develop deep and long-lasting relationships and leverage these to facilitate positive organisational outcomes.
