New Zealand's fastest growing region's family oriented community is seeking a Debarker Operator who is mechanically minded with a "hands on" good attitude, excellent work ethic and a willingness to learn and grow your skills.
You will be joining a small team with rotating rosters of 4 on 4 off shifts. The process involves debarking logs (mostly pine) and some percentage of debarking logs are then sprayed with an anti-sap stain chemical.
This is a hands on role, half of which the operation of complex fixed plant machinery, with the other half being maintenance of the machinery, systems and environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Removing residues to disposal facilities
- Maintenance and housekeeping of our residue storage areas
- Removing waste including veneer and yard waste
- Providing Log Loader coverage at busy times
Along side a great attitude, we're looking for a person who:
- Will always demonstrate safe work practices and compliance to all relevant H&S standards
- Have experience operating heavy machinery and are physically fit
- Have previous welding experience (an advantage)
- A self starter and forward thinker who is able to work unsupervised to tight deadlines
- Will excel in a small team environment
- Have the ability to listen and learn quickly and have good numeracy skills
- Have the flexibility to carry out alternative tasks as required or work additional hours as required
- Happy to work 12 hour shifts 3am-3pm - 4 on 4 off rotating morning and nights (no public holidays worked)
- Previous chemical handling, Fork-hoist, chainsaw experience and computer literacy a great advantage.
