We are seeking a Prisoner Escort Officer to provide a safe environment for the movement of female prisoners. The role involves the escort of prisoners between Courts/ Prisons and Police Stations within the Auckland Region as well as the courtroom supervision of prisoners at courts for jury trials. Due to the nature of the role requiring close supervision of female prisoners, we are required to provide a female PECCS Officer for this position.
The role is based out of our Mt Wellington office therefore applicants must have their own transport as early starts are required. Applicants will need to be at work as early as 5:30am some days.
We are looking for people with the following attributes:
- Good communication skills both written and verbal are essential, as reports may need to be given in open court
- Vigilant and with immaculate presentation
- Ability to deal with prisoners in a calm and professional manner
- Ability to remain composed and think clearly in stressful situations
- Play a vital role in improving public safety and reducing re-offending
Key Requirements:
- Hold or ability to obtain class 2 heavy vehicle license
- Physically Fit and must be able to pass a drug screening test
- Ability to work flexible shifts - mainly Monday to Friday anywhere between the hours of 0530 to 1900
- Pass training courses involving first aid, control and restraint and law related modules
Essential to the role:
- A current Certificate of Approval (Green) or in the process of obtaining one
- No criminal convictions- (Clean Slate Act does not apply to this role)
- Full and clean NZ Driver's License for driving a manual vehicle
