This involves the day-to-day operation of plant including, but not limited to, air compressors and refrigerated dryers, rapid roller doors, dock equipment, pallet racking, pallet wrappers, plant, equipment, building, essential services and computer based controls program as well as the supervision of external contractors engaged on a variety of maintenance tasks that contribute to providing a fully functional and safe environment for warehouse staff to perform their Distribution Centre activities without major disruptions to plant and equipment.

 

A key role for the position is to communicate, on a daily basis with Distribution Centre personnel, maintenance management, other staff and contractors to exchange information regarding the timely provision of maintenance services at the site.  The position also undertakes continual reviews of plant and equipment maintenance effectiveness, reliability and downtime, makes recommendations when plant, equipment and/or componentry has reached end of life, and assists with replacement options or upgrades.  Recommending refinements to maintenance planning to align with varying maintenance window opportunities and external resource availability is another key aspect of this role.

 

The successful candidate must have a can-do attitude and a willingness to work outside of the role’s core function from time to time to help out when requested or the need arises.

Essential Functions:

  • Prioritise and complete assigned work in the maintenance management system to ensure the timely completion of items against specific FM related KPI’s.
  • Assist to maintain an up to date preventative maintenance program in line with business rules.
  • Maintain a standardised approach to individual works management.
  • Co-ordinate with the Facilities Manager and other trade staff site regarding daily / weekly / monthly work flows activities and reporting.
  • Ensure the “Essential Services” inspections and compliance is maintained.
  • Perform other tasks as requested or directed by the Facilities Manager and Maintenance Team Leader and from time to time Operations Management Team.
  • Ensure that all controlled chambers zone temperatures are monitored and within operating tolerance at all times.
  • Identify, obtain approval and implement efficiencies where possible in relation to work practices, purchasing requests, and power usage across all areas of the sites.
  • Assist to ensure that all sites are of an acceptable standard at all times and 100% operational.
  • Work with operations to identify opportunities to remove cost and risk to site personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with the relevant regulatory health, safety and environmental requirements and the NZ health, safety and environment policy in the management of business and staff.
  • Ensure compliance with the Americold health, safety and environmental rules, regulations and procedures, and ensure all tasks are carried out in a safe manner with no adverse impacts on the environment.
  • Implementation of Capex Projects in conjunction with other trade staff and contractors
  • Be aware of the requirements of the sites Business Continuity Plan and Emergency Management Plan from a Facilities Management perspective for all sites.
  • Assist in all urgent and emergency activity and planning

 

Knowledge Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Registered Electrician qualifications
  • Proven knowledge, skills and experience in achieving the delivery of maintenance related work within the trade discipline.
  • Proven fault finding skills in industrial electrical installation and machinery.
  • Ability to work with other trade groups and contractors as required
  • Sound understanding of safe working practices and their application in a maintenance service work environment.
  • Analytical and problem solving skills, the capacity to prioritise work, maintain attention to detail and meet deadlines and KPI’s
  • Pride in your work and the discipline to continuously improve skills and work quality standards.
  • Good self-administration & time management skills.
  • Familiar with AS/NZS Standards, Codes of Practice and legislation pertaining to property maintenance / facilities management industry.
  • Demonstrated capacity to understand and interpret operating specifications, plans and plant and equipment servicing standards.
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and have a help out when required attitude.
  • Strong internal customer relations experience.
  • Knowledge of the Controlled Temperature Distribution and Storage operations (an advantage)
  • To be able to communicate with staff and management at all levels.
  • Experience at managing multiple sites form a facilities management perspective
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to consult, problem solve and dispute resolution.
  • Excellent management skills and possess the ability to coordinate multiple tasks in deadline driven, fast paced environment.
  • Strong ability to lead and manage others; strong motivator and team player approach.
  • Current Driver’s License
  • Forklift License (advantageous)
  • Willingness and ability to travel for work (if required)

 

Tools and Technology:

  • Computer literacy and demonstrated competence in the use of a Computerised Maintenance Management Systems as well as basic knowledge in current PC based software including Word, Excel and Outlook etc
  • Knowledge of various types of equipment in maintenance trades.

 

Educational Requirements:

  • Appropriate trade qualifications and practicing licence
  • At least five years related work experience
  • Computer literacy and demonstrated competence in the use of a Computerised Maintenance Management Systems as well as current PC based software including Word, Excel and Outlook etc.
  • Mechanical/Electrical knowledge and aptitude required.
  • Mathematical and documentation skills.
  • LEAN/Six Sigma methodology knowledge (or ability and willingness to learn)

 

  • Legal right to work in New Zealand (i.e. produce copy of birth certificate or passport)
