Detail information about job Company Accountant. Terms and conditions vacancy
- FMCG supplying NZ & Aus
- Dynamic business
What this role offers
Growth necessitates change, so in this newly created role, you will assume leadership of the existing finance team, to mentor them to deliver consistent, timely and accurate results – as you oversee the financial health of the business.
Your ideas and input will be valued. Leading by example and experience, you will be trusted to review existing practices and processes and to instil disciplines appropriate for the size and dynamic nature of the business.
The company manufactures and supplies product in the FMCG industry throughout NZ and in Australia. Billing cycles are therefore weekly, the volumes are high, and the pace is somewhat relentless. If you favour the use of technology to analyse and produce meaningful financial information, and if you have the agility to keep pace in a business that is never static, this role may be perfect for you.
Duties
There is no room for airs and graces in this role. This is a manufacturing business. There will be days when you and your team will need to stop what you’re doing – and go help the production team to get product out the door.
As a manufacturer, the business purchases an extensive range of ingredients and some of these are obtained overseas, with lengthy lead times. The company’s inventory is extensive, and they work to tight timeframes. You must therefore be familiar with BOM. Time management in the reporting and purchase of stock will be critical, along with your experience in costing of the finished products.
Full detail will be provided to applicants shortlisted for interview by the employer. However, in summary you will:
- Manage all accounting functions to year-end
- Report regularly to the directors and divisional managers
- Ensure statutory compliance
- Oversee payroll
- Assist in the preparation of budgets
- Assist in product costing from bills of materials (BOM)
- Provide accurate and regular analysis of stock
- Lead and mentor two direct reports
- Optimise the use of technology to effectively maintain transparency and the integrity of financial information
- Pitch in and help your colleagues where required, to ensure deadlines are met
What you need to have
To be successful in securing this role, you must have accounting experience gained in the manufacturing industry (i.e. working with bills of materials / BOM).
This role will not suit a grad who does not also have extensive practical experience. Rather, we want to hear from you if you have:
- An appropriate qualification, most likely BCom, coupled with CA / CPA (or working towards either)
- Extensive commercial accounting experience
Personal attributes will include:
- Enthusiasm to lead by example and share knowledge with your team
- Agility to change tack when the game plan changes – even sometimes with little notice
- The readiness to pitch in and help elsewhere in the business if needed
- Strong IT literacy
- The ability to investigate and drive continuous improvement
