Our client is seeking Glaziers to work on a commercial hotel build located in Queenstown, New Zealand

The Company

Join our clients’ experienced local and international team who are embarking on an innovative programme of investment and construction in the hotel market.  Their first project is the construction of an iconic new upmarket luxury hotel on the lake’s edge in Queenstown, New Zealand. This is your chance to add fresh international experience to your portfolio. 

Construction will include an integrated 8-storey hotel, adjacent apartment and townhouse complex. With 200 hotel rooms, restaurants, bars, conference facilities, health club, spa, back of house facilities and infrastructure - this is a unique opportunity to work in one of New Zealand’s most remarkable alpine destinations.

The Role

The anticipated project start date is September 2018 with rolling start dates for Glaziers. The successful candidates will be joining a team of national and internationally qualified specialists, requiring significant experience on commercial builds. You will need to have a strong commercial background in the premium fitting and installation of double glazed glass, shower screens, splash backs, pool fences and balustrades. The key to this role will be your ability to work to the highest standards while maintaining a safe workplace and achieving production deadlines.

What you will need to succeed:

  • Be trade qualified or have 3 years or more relevant experience
  • Able to cut, assemble, fit and attach metal-framed glass enclosures for showers, bathtubs, mirrors, glass equipment, display cases, skylights and solariums
  • Able to secure mirrors in position using mastic cement, putty, bolts or screws
  • Able to fasten glass panes into wood sashes or frames with clips, points or mouldings, adding weather seals or putty around pane edges to seal joints
  • Able to fabricate and install metal sashes and mouldings for glass installation using aluminium and steel framing
  • Able to cut and attach mounting strips, metal or wood mouldings, rubber gaskets or metal clips to surfaces in preparation for mirror installation
  • Able to use appropriate glazing and joinery hand tools
  • Have commercial glazing and double-glazing installation and fitting experience (advantage)
  • Have had previous work experience as an aluminium joiner / fabricator (advantage)
  • Able to operate cranes or hoists to load and arrange glass and mirrors off delivery trucks using suction cups (advantage)
  • Able to lift over 35 kg of weighted frames and panels (advantage)
  • Able to install pre-assembled metal or wood frameworks for windows and doors to be fitted with glass panels (advantage)
  • Able to set glass doors into frames and bolt metal hinges, handles, locks and other hardware to attach doors to frames and walls (advantage)
  • EWP: Working at Heights (advantage)
  • Able to work independently
  • Be physically fit, have a strong work ethic and be reliable
  • Have strong health & safety practices
  • Have a passion for the industry
  • Able to work to deadlines
  • Have good communication skills
  • Work to a very high standard 
  • Be a team player
  • Have a current clean New Zealand driver's licence
