TRind Service specialises in the full maintenance cycle of electric motors and generators and operates service centres across the North and South Island of New Zealand. The service shops have many years’ experience in the rewinding and mechanical repairs of all brands and types of rotating electrical machinery. We also offer our clients related services including installation, on-site maintenance and condition and vibration monitoring, thereby offering them a complete maintenance solution.

The busy Nelson branch is a specialist motor rewinding workshop with ongoing field service work in the marine, agriculture, timber and other heavy industries. Nelson offers a great work life balance a fantastic natural environment and is renowned for its world class outdoor activities and sunny climate. We’re aggressively expanding the branch and so we’re looking for a forward thinking, positive and driven individual to help us succeed in our ambitions.

We have an opening in our team for an experienced electrical fitter to assist us with providing a variety of maintenance services to our clients. This role would be a perfect fit for an electrical fitter with experience fault finding, maintaining and repairing AC/DC motors, generators and related equipment. An experienced Rewinder that is looking for a change of direction may also be interested in talking to us.

Responsibilities

  • Inspection, fault finding and basic repairs and maintenance of AC and DC motors, generators and related equipment
  • Mechanical/electrical decoupling, removal and re-installation of AC and DC machinery
  • Project management, client interaction and assisting with workflow scheduling within the workshop
  • Ensure that maintenance procedures are followed and results recorded accurately
  • Ensure that internal and external H&S practises are followed

Essential requirements and experience

  • Must have an electrical qualification and be registered, or be able to register for EWRB status.
  • Minimum 10 years’ practical experience that aligns with the responsibilities of this role
  • Mechanical and rigging experience essential
  • Must be physically fit and capable for working overtime if needed
  • Must be available for rostered callouts
  • Proven decision-making skills
  • Ability to work autonomously

Desirable requirements and experience

  • Experience working in the marine or oil and gas industry
  • Alignment, vibration analysis and condition monitoring a big plus
  • Machining experience
  • Forklift training
  • VSD/PLC experience
