Our host is a local manufacturer and installer of quality furniture. The role requires you to participate in a team of skilled tradespeople in a hi-tech environment which will support your learning. The company prides itself on a great reputation and is seeking a reliable and communicative young person who is suited to both factory work and customer contact.

This job is more than cabinet-making. You will also have exposure to a range of other craftspeople including shopfitters and upholsters. You will have the opportunity to build a well-rounded capability in this industry.

Duties include:

• Assembly and construction of furniture and other components
• Interpretation of drawings
• Application of decorative trims to products
• Readying manufactured products for transport
• Occasional onsite work

What are the requirements we are looking for:

• Basic ability with hand tools
• Communication skills – including an enquiring, interested attitude
• Ability to work independently on your job, while working in a cohesive manner with a team
• Time management skills and ability to plan your job
• Ability to problem solve and be open minded to try different approaches to tasks

• Some experience working with timber would be well regarded eg. pre-apprenticeship / school subjects.
