Volvo Group Australia has an opening for a trade-qualified Auto Electrician to join our Trucks Production Facility. Working in a fast paced environment, the role of Auto Electrician is responsible for completing all installations as delegated in a proactive, constructive team approach to achieve daily build targets. Initially this role is being offered on a 12 month-fixed-term, on afternoon shift operations (3.00 pm - 11.30 pm).
Established in 1972, the Volvo Truck production facility is the largest assembly plant for heavy duty trucks in Australia. To date, Volvo Group Australia have built more than 60,000 trucks (Volvo and Mack) onsite.
About the role:
- Proactively work together as part of a collegial team to achieve daily build targets
- Carry out all repairs as delegated by Production Leader to manufacturer specifications
- Cab/dash harness installation and modification
- Safely operate and maintain equipment and hand tools
- To work in a quality conscious manner at all times including carrying out quality checks
- Communicate work concerns timely to Production Leader
- Take initiative and be involved in improving day to day business
- Ensure housekeeping (5S) procedures are practiced at all times
About you:
- Completion of relevant automotive electrical qualification
- Solid auto electrical work experience gained within the heavy commercial vehicle industry
- Mack or Volvo production experience desirable but not essential
- Strong Commitment to meeting customer requirements
- Excellent diagnostic and repair skills
- An understanding of VR quality controls
- Be a team player, it is essential that you know how to work as part of a team
- Demonstrated health, safety and environmental focus.
- Good communication and sound computer skills (MS Office).
- An understanding of quality controls
- Drive to improve, the ability to look at a task and find a best way to improve the process
- Have a flexible approach to work commitments.
