Our Opportunity

The Thales Australia Avionics, Training & Simulation (ATS) is comprised of two business lines:

  • Training & Simulation
  • Helicopter Avionics

The Training & Simulation business delivers both simulation products and training services to Defence and Civil customers in Australia. The organisation is customer focused with many of its staff located at customer sites delivering high levels of service under Performance-based contracts.

The Senior Simulator Technician is responsible for coordinating all onsite activities relating to the operation and maintenance of the Submarine Control Simulator and the Propulsion Control Simulator of the Collins Platform Training System, together with the Part Task Trainers, at the Submarine Training and Systems Centre at HMAS Stirling.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the overall operation and maintenance activities of the simulators.
  • Ensure that the simulators are maintained in accordance with the manufacturers’ guidelines
  • Coordinate corrective maintenance as and when required
  • Maintain tools and test equipment, and ensure equipment is in calibration
  • Co-ordinate spares and repairs to ensure that the simulators meet their contracted availability requirements
  • Maintain a sound working relationship with the customers and other relevant stakeholders
  • Prepare the simulators with the necessary configurations and scenarios required for each training event.

About You:

  • Certificate IV or Diploma in Electronics Trade or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years experience as a Technician
  • Customer Relationship Management.
  • Sound interpersonal skills and ability to maintain good corporate image.
  • Demonstrated “self-starter” who is able to work autonomously with minimal supervision
  • Experience with simulation projects preferably in a Defence context.

Special Requirements

To apply for this role you must be eligible for a Defence Security Clearance (NV1 ). You may need to be ITARS cleared; therefore Thales need to know if you hold any other passport other than Australian, or have dual citizenship.
