Our Townsville Workshop requires a Workshop Supervisor to support  the Workshop Manager to ensure safety, high mechanical standards and compliance of our fleet. This position assists in the supervision of the workshop technician team, along with managing the overall operation, productivity and efficiency of the workshop. You will provide a backup support function for the Workshop Manager as needed.

The Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with  fleet controllers to ensure a smooth and consistent flow of information between the workshop and operations;
  • Ensure workshop tools and equipment are kept to a high standard;
  • Be the liaison between the technicians and the Workshop Manager;
  • Complete and oversee SLP Inspections in accordance with SLP and DG requirements;
  • Coordinate or carry out after hours breakdowns;
  • Ensure all staff adhere to safety requirements;
  • Communicate with suppliers and external repair agencies;
  • Develop and train a team of professionals to assist in the daily delivery of quality service; and
  • Ensure workshop and surrounding areas are kept neat and tidy at all times.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Must have Certificate III Heavy Road Transport;
  • Minimum 5+ years’  post trade experience;
  • Previous supervisory experience in a similar job role, including scheduling of jobs;
  • Must hold and maintain a current ‘HR” licence with ability to gain HC and MC;
  • Experience in a DG workshop and understanding of Bulk Petroleum tankers;
  • Well-developed interpersonal, verbal and oral communication skills;
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail; and
  • Ability to work in a team environment.

You must be legally entitled to work in Australia to accept this position and will be required to show proof of employability with a copy of your Australian visa advising of visa details and entitlements or Australian birth certificate. An Australian visa check will be completed on all successful candidates.
