Purpose:
As a Mechanical Engineering Technician - Fixed Plant Maintenance, you will be responsible for preventative maintenance servicing or repairs, conducting inspections and performing fault-finding on various fixed plant equipment to company procedures and Australian Standards. Our workshops have various CNC Machines and Automatic process equipment which is fully automated with the latest technology in process controls/Automations and robotics.
Responsibilities:
• Ensure vigilance with the Take 5 and JHA process.
• Maintain a high level of housekeeping in the workshop and yard areas.
• Maintain a high standard of work ensuring quality in all tasks.
• Establish and maintain relationships with customers to ensure a full understanding of the environment in which mechanical equipment operates.
• Fault finding and troubleshooting to limit downtime and improve the operational effectiveness of the automated equipment including predictive and preventative maintenance measures.
• Perform Mechanical inspection (Preventive maintenance tasks).
• Carry out Mechanical maintenance (Corrective maintenance tasks).
• Assist in identifying and implementing maintenance opportunities for improvements.
• Maintenance and repair of workshop equipment, machinery and components
• Notify Supervisor of any defects/damage on any Fixed Plant equipment.
• Follow specific maintenance procedures.
• Understanding of maintenance processes and procedures.
• Accurate completion of documentation including service packs and work instructions.
• Use of computerized maintenance systems.
• Facilitating shift changeovers.
• Undertake training as required to gain new skills.
• Participation in safety meetings and site safety programmes.
• Follow Maintenance Work Management Processes.
• Comply with all HSEC policies, procedures and guidelines.
• Adhere to Mechanical Standards & Relevant Act/Regulations.
Technical Capabilities & Competencies
Qualifications:
• Mechanical Fitter/Turner Trade qualifications
• Current First Aid
• ‘C’ Class Driver License
• Working at Heights
• Confine Space
• High Risk License - EWP
Skills:
• Demonstrated ability to work in accordance with stringent safety policies and guidelines.
• Work closely with all employees and stakeholders to analyse performance issues, develop, and implement strategies for improvement.
• Fault finding and troubleshooting to limit downtime and improve the operational effectiveness of the automated equipment including predictive and preventative maintenance measures.
• Strong problem solving skills.
• Excellent Mechanical knowledge.
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
• Must be able to interpret technical drawings.
• Operation of lathes, millers, metal working machines, Oxy Acetylene and Arc welding.
Experience:
• Experience in automations and process control equipment’s and environment. Highly regarded.
• Maintenance environments and Breakdown/Fault finding experiences in industrials & automations, process control environment.
• Proven experience & knowledge in Hydraulic & Pneumatics systems.
• CNC Sinumerik Automation Systems.
• 2-5 years post trade experience in an automations, process control environment or manufacturing industry.
