Your role

The Air Force can be called upon to operate anywhere in the world, often at short notice. This requires the building of temporary and permanent air fields, complete with clean water supplies and waste handling facilities.

In this action-packed role you'll be trained to install and maintain these essential plumbing services, supporting exercises and deployments across Australia and overseas.

Your work will include:

  • installing, maintaining and repairing water storage, reticulation and treatment systems
  • installing gas services, and
  • setting up waste water and sewage management systems.

Carrying out these activities in remote and challenging locations can be particularly rewarding, and the job offers opportunities for travel that are rarely available to civilian plumbers. You'll also enjoy the added variety of performing general plumbing duties in the dynamic environment of Air Force bases.

You can join fully qualified, or learn the plumbing trade from scratch in the Air Force. Either way you will receive specialist training that prepares you for working in operational environments as a member of a close-knit team of tradespeople.

  • Then posting to RAAF Base Richmond (NSW) or Townsville (QLD)

Entry Requirements

  • At least 17 years of age
  • Australian Citizen
  • Year 10 completion with passes in English and Mathematics
