Your role
You're thousands of kilometres from home in a hostile environment. Air Force engineers are creating a temporary landing facility for the imminent arrival of C-130J transport aircraft. Protecting that runway and the aircraft using it is your responsibility.
This action-packed job will see you and your team defending aircraft, airfields, assets and personnel from ground attack. Your mission will be to prevent any disruption to air operations.
It’s a role that will push your mental and physical toughness to the brink, while giving you the opportunity to make a big difference.
Upon graduation from training, you will command a Rifle Flight of highly-trained personnel in an Airfield Defence Squadron. You will also work closely with other security and emergency management personnel in the performance of your duties.
Ongoing your major focus will be preparing for or deploying on Air Force and multi-service operations. This means you will frequently be absent from your home base and family for at least several months a year and will have to endure challenging conditions while living in the field.

Entry Requirements
- At least 17 years of age
- Australian Citizen
- Year 12 completion with passes in English and three other academic subjects
