About Us

Hillwood Berries is a progressive Soft-fruits grower based on the eastern side of the Tamar Valley, about 25 minutes north of Launceston.

The past 7 years have seen steady growth and as the size of the operation has increased, we now require a mechanic to take on the maintenance and repair of our plant and vehicles.

About You

Ideally qualified as a diesel mechanic, but with a broad range of experience. You should be hard-working, proactive and reliable. You must have a full car drivers licence (having a Heavy Combination licence would be highly desirable).

As you will be responsible for co-ordinating and recording the maintenance of farm equipment it is important that you possess good interpersonal and organisational skills. Some experience with computers is desirable.

About the role

The role requires completion of regular safety checks, preventative maintenance, servicing and repairs on the following equipment…

·        Excavators (up to 12t)

·        Trucks and Coaster Buses

·        Tractors (John Deere)

·        JCB Telehandler

·        Diesel and Petrol farm vehicles

·        John Deere Diesel Gators and A.T.V.’s

·        Ride-on mowers & mower decks

Additional experience with the following would be highly advantageous…

·        Forklift trucks (LPG and battery powered)

·        Petrol generators

·        2-stroke engines (chainsaws, brushcutters etc)

·        Tractor Implements (from slashers and rotary hoes to spray units)

·        Welding

·        Panel beating

·        General maintenance

Safety is part of the game in modern-day farming and with this trend set to continue it is important that you are always conscious of this and use safe working practices especially in what can be challenging conditions.

After an initial probation period the position will be a salaried, full time position, average hours will be 38-40 hours per week. The Salary rate is negotiable and dependant upon your skills and experience.
