The opportunity
You’ll be learning on the job within a compressed air and gas business, as well as studying to gain your Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical trade. In this trade, you’ll be learning mechanical cutting, thermal cutting, general machining, tool making, shaping and joining metal, and marking out. The course also covers more specialised areas of knowledge such as mechatronics, fluid power, computer numerical control machinery, computer-aided drafting, and workplace safety.
Back in the workshop, you will be involved in cutting brackets, welding and some spray painting and work your way up to assembly, overhauls and routine maintenance of compressors both large and small. As you gain experience, there may be opportunities to get out of the workshop and do site installation work. There is a strong career path ahead for the right candidates.

They provide service plans, site inspections, air quality analysis, monitoring and system appraisals and conduct installation and commissioning services. They also manufacture a range of nitrogen generation systems for all types of tyre filling requirements.
