The Berry category within Costa is Australia's premium grower, packer and marketer premium quality fresh fruit and vegetables. We currently have an opportunity for a Head Mechanic to join our Workshop team in Corindi, NSW.
This position would ideally suit an experienced trade qualified mechanic with strong communication and leadership skills. Based at our Corindi farm near the NSW mid-North coast town of Coffs Harbour, you will be responsible for the supervision of staff and delegation of work programs to ensure effective operation of the Workshop.
Major responsibilities include:
- Daily Pre-Start inspection management
- Staff management and delegation
- Development and implementation of planning strategies to ensure all work assignments and maintenance programs are completed in a timely and efficient manner
- Comply to budget requirements
- Inspect and determine worthiness of vehicles and equipment prior to purchase and make recommendations to management
- Make repair cost estimates
- Inspect, diagnose, overhaul, installation, repair, replacement and adjustment of bearings, ignitions, transmissions, differentials, axles, steering mechanisms, drive shafts, fenders, radiators and front and rear end suspension systems
- Inspect tractors, quad bikes and other machinery and sign off on compliance with legislative requirements
- Build and sustain inventory of all vehicle parts and maintain information in appropriate software program, including approval of stock and part orders
- Immediate reporting of any hazard, incident or near miss
- Comply with and adhere to Company OH&S policies and procedures in line with the standards of Costa Group and the requirements of the OH&S Act
Education, Qualifications, Training:
- Trade qualification
- Minimum of 5 years experience as a mechanic, including experience working with gas and diesel engines
- Several years of experience in a supervisory/managerial position
- Experienced in diagnostics and repairs to a variety of diesel vehicles, tractors and machinery
- Ability to understand and carry out both oral and written instructions in an independent manner
- Operate modern office equipment, including computer equipment
- Current, valid driver's licence, HR, C
- Some travel to other farms will be expected. Hours will need to be flexible in line with the workload required.
