Our Client is one of the oldest and most experienced agricultural fund managers in Australia. They are a ASX300 listed entity as well as a number of other funds. With approximately $743 million of assets under management for over 11,000 investors.
An opportunity has become available for a Mechanic to work across their almond orchard and cropping operations in Hillston, NSW. Hillston is a small, rural town of approximately 1,400 residents with a range of community facilities, including high and primary schools, hospital, and adequate shopping to provide for a large irrigation community. It is a hub for a range of cropping and irrigation farming activities and It is located 110 kilometres from Griffith.
You will assist with the maintenance of all pumps and bores, as well as provide ongoing servicing and maintenance of all machinery and vehicles. You will work closely with the Orchard Manager and other maintenance and farm personnel. Reporting to the Orchard Manager, you will be responsible for:
- Sourcing and ordering parts for implement repairs to all machines and engines;
- Regular maintenance and repair of bores - including taking meter readings, completing fuel dips weekly, general maintenance;
- Regular and preventative maintenance and repairs of farm machinery;
- Updating the maintenance register recording all work carried out, parts needed, parts installed, serial numbers etc.;
- Guiding and coaching other maintenance personnel to ensure machinery and equipment required to complete operational activities are work ready and safe. These include sprayers, tractors, harvesting equipment and any other machinery;
- Reporting and maintaining documentation for maintenance and operational activities; and
- Following Workplace Health and Safety systems and processes to carry out all tasks safely.
What you will need to be successful:
- Current NSW C Class manual driver’s licence
- Sound mechanical knowledge
- Flexibiltiy around working hours in emergencies
Desirable experience:
- Farm machinery, irrigation pumps and bore experience
- Trade qualification and certification to work on air-conditioning systems
- Light or heavy vehicle mechanical qualifications
On offer for the successful candidate is a competitive market salary of $60,000 - $70,000. The successful applicant will also be eligible to participate in the company’s group salary continuance and life insurance plan at no cost.
