Our client is based in the Rydalmere area and specialises in brake subsystems and related products for locomotives, freight cars and passenger transit vehicles equipment, electronic train-control equipment, and heat-exchangers equipment for rail applications. This site is the central stores and the main repair & overhaul workshops.

The workshop facility has the capabilities to overhaul freight car pneumatic valves, locomotive electronic brake systems, on-board loco electronic systems, toilets, compressors, air dryers, tread brake units and bogie mounted brake equipment as examples.

They have experienced growth and are seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter. This role will involve working at both the workshop and working on a closed new railway site.

This position is a 4-6month contract for the right person.

Duties include:

* Follow detailed drawings/specifications examination to find out job, material and equipment requirements
* Warehouse preassembly of mechanical parts
* Transportation of parts from/to site/warehouse
* On site installation/retrofit/assembly of mechanical parts
* Dismantling of faulty tools and assemblies and repair or replacement of defective parts
* Accuracy and quality check of finished parts, tools or sub-assemblies
* Promote a Safety culture
* Liaise with the Installation Manager on day to day installation activities

What will you bring to the role:

* Fitter Trade qualification required
* Minimum of 1 year Rail background experience
* Hold a Rail Industry Worker (RIW) Card
* Drivers Licence and own transport
* Proven mechanical aptitude
* Clear communication skills
* Good attention to detail with a can do attitude
* Physically fit and can lift up to 20kg
* Willingness to work overtime if required
