AGA is seeking dedicated individuals to undertake Horticulture Apprenticeships with established organisations based in the Melbourne.

• Landscaping Apprenticeship- construct and renovate garden landscapes and how to identify plants and trees in a domestic or commercial environment.
• Parks & Gardens Apprenticeship - attend to the care of trees, shrubs, flowers and lawns in public and private gardens, reserves, recreational facilities and industrial and housing estates.
• Sports Turf Management Apprenticeship - establish & maintain turf playing surfaces and turf production.
• Arborist/Arboriculture Traineeship - Maintain and care for trees and shrubs by lopping limbs and shaping branches, treating trees with fertilisers and insecticides, removing dead or decaying trees, and advising on general tree care.

This is a fantastic opportunity to kick-start your career in Horticulture, be trained by industry experts and gain a qualification. Our apprentices are placed in the following workplaces and gain hands on work experience for 3-4 years.

• Local City Councils
• Government Departments
• Private Organisations (Family run businesses and large Corporate businesses)

Skills and Experience:

• Able to undertake manual and heavy work
• Enjoy working outdoors
• Ability to work in a team
• Show initiative

Requirements:

• Drivers license and own transport
• Must be prepared to work outdoors in all weather
• Must be a team player
• Willing to undergo a Medical Assessment

All of our successful applicants:

• Receive reimbursement of course fees upon completion of your training;
• Will be placed with a host employer who will provide you with on-the-job training and work experience;
• Receive ongoing support and mentoring from a dedicated AGA field officer who will visit you in the workplace and arrange all of your training, placements, tool kit and safety gear.
