We now have an outstanding opportunity for an experienced Qualified Gardener to join our Melbourne Parks and Gardens team. You will play a key role in the maintenance and management of some of the City of Melbourne’s most prestigious and beautiful parks and gardens.
The Position:
- Ensure Melbourne’s significant horticultural assets are maintained to the highest horticultural standards and are well presented at all times
- Maintain a diverse range of horticultural plant’s health including exotics, perennials and roses. Maintenance tasks will include removing dead plant matter, weeding, pest and disease control, fertilising, watering, pruning, planting, mulching etc
- Supervise Assistant Gardeners, Apprentices and Casual Team Members as required
- Maintain all plant, equipment and vehicles in pristine condition while also ensuring defects are regularly checked and reported and log books and other records are managed and reported
- Actively protect City of Melbourne assets and provide a safe, high quality public environment for residents and visitors within the region, including daily litter removal and waste management, removal of hazardous and bio-hazardous waste as required and removal of graffiti as required
About You:
- Minimum of Trade Certified Gardener/Landscaping
- Demonstrated experience in the maintenance of high end horticultural landscapes including florals, perennial borders and garden beds of a similar nature
- Current Manual Drivers Licence
- Current Chemical Users Certificate or equivalent
