Cleansing Officer (Casual Position)

The Business Unit

The Waste Management Unit provides a range of services relating to cleansing, waste and resource recovery, including collection services as well as being the key point of contact for the management of Kimbriki. It provides accurate and timely advice and uses better practice methods and procedures while developing new and innovative solutions. The Waste Management unit will deliver the following services:

  • Cleansing
  • Waste and Resource Recovery
  • Education

The Role and Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Cleansing Services Coordinator, the purpose of this role is to clean and perform associated duties as the organisation from time to time requires, in public places in including footpaths, gutters and associated areas in shopping centres, parks, reserves, beaches and roads.
  • Pick up loose litter in shopping centres, streets, carparks, parks and reserves and waterways
  • Washing down furniture, etc
  • Pick up dead animals from public places and arrange disposal
  • Clean beaches, including dunes on and along dune fences or walls
  • Remove rubbish in residential streets

Selection Criteria

  • Demonstrated experience, or a willingness to learn a broad range of cleansing services
  • Demonstrated ability to safely operate, or a willingness to learn to safely operate a full range of large plant including beach rake and street sweepers
  • Ability to follow directions and work with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to work to priorities, meet deadlines and work safely within established parameters in close co-operation with operational staff
