Company Description

We are a small successful Building and Building Maintenance Company providing services to commercial and government clientele. We are based in Cockburn however our broad range of clients has us working from Mandurah to North of Perth CBD and also country locations.

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about their role with us and is looking for a long term career with this ever expanding Building and Maintenance Company. The role requires a hands-on approach to all works assigned. It also entails working closely with our internal team, contractors, suppliers and encouraging strong relationships with our existing clients.

About the role

At this point in time we require someone with skills in roof plumbing, gutters downpipes, flashings etc. and/or able to learn quickly and pick up roof plumbing within a fortnight.

Generally, our works range from working unsupervised on small maintenance i.e. servicing a door handle or inspecting a roof leak, to being involved in completing medium size projects i.e.  helping a supervisor manage trades whilst completing general site carpentry and works. No two days are the same.

Requirements for application

·       MUST HAVE A CERTIFICATE FOR WORKING AT HEIGHTS - WITHIN THE LAST 4 YEARS

- MUST BE AVAILABLE FOR IMMEDIATE START

·       White/Blue card

·       Qualified Trade Certificate in Carpentry/Cabinetmaker(dependant on skillset)

·       4 years experience in the commercial building industry

·       Must be an Australian resident

·       Have a current WA “C” class driver's license & drive a manual vehicle

·       Able to pass and obtain a Federal Police clearance

·       Be able to use Microsoft Word and Excel

·       Be able to use a smart phone or tablet

·       Own hand tools and battery tools in good working order

We are looking for the following traits in the candidate:

·         Keen eye for detail and strong organisational skills as well as an ability to meet deadlines from both management and clients

·         Be flexible in taking on a number of different roles and challenges

·         Willingness to complete maintenance jobs on his/her own wherever possible throughout Perth and whenever instructed

·         Be well presented

·         Have good communication skills

·         Show initiative and great at problem solving

·         Strong building knowledge - preferably be a carpenter

Skills Required:

·       ROOF PLUMBING SKILLS – Guttering corners, downpipes, flashing install etc.

·       Swing a door

·       Work on roofs, comfortably

·       Assess requirements for estimating quantities of materials to be ordered

·       Order materials

·       Have experience with roofing materials & their installation, guttering, downpipes etc

·       Work with and as a team

·       Be multi-skilled. Variance of skills including, wall patching, gyprock fixing, flushing, small concrete works, fencing, manufacturing doors for viewing windows, stud wall installs

·       Allocate costs to jobs and code receipts

·       Install commercial hardware

o   Mortice lock – include set for different accesses

o   Door closer – and adjust

o   Door seals – including rebate pressure seals
