Voyages Indigenous Tourism Australia is a unique Australian travel company wholly owned by the Indigenous Land Corporation (ILC) offering experience-based holidays in spectacular wilderness locations including Ayers Rock Resort in the iconic Red Centre, Home Valley Station in the Kimberley region of Western Australia and tourism facilities at Mossman Gorge in Tropical North Queensland.

The Ayers Rock Resort complex also includes the Australian Tourism Award winning, Uluru Meeting Place, a campground, the Red Ochre Spa, the award winning Sounds of Silence (entered into the Australian Tourism Hall of Fame) as well as 15 independently branded food and beverage outlets.
 
We currently require a General Manager Technical Services to provide technical input, leadership, guidance and advice pursuant to the efficient, profitable and safer operation of all Voyages assets at Ayers Rock Resort.
 
KEY CRITERIA
 
The successful applicant will:

• Be experienced in managing multisite environments
• Have experience working in a remote environment
• Have a good understanding of hotel/hospitality operations in general
• Have formal qualifications and experience in electric Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
• Have experience with planned and preventive maintenance programmes

 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage the day to day and ongoing responsibilities of the Technical Services Division, including Technical Services, Environment, Waste, Landscaping and all matters relating to a large Vehicle Fleet of over 120 vehicles.
• Ensure a holistic approach to the ongoing repair, maintenance, and presentation of the Resort, commensurate with a safe, effective and efficient operation.
• Assume responsibility for all matters of a technical nature, both financial and operational across Ayers Rock Resort. This may Involve the flexible approach to the hours worked and will involve an out-of- hours call capability.
• Provide short and medium term strategies to ensuring an efficient and cost effective technically related operation.
• Stay up to date with all Federal, State and Local regulations which may impact on Ayers Rock
• Resort and ensure the business is compliant with these.
• Ensure the Technical Services Division complies with all Company standards and policies and is regularly auditing processes to ensure compliance and high standards are maintained.
• Ensure a planned, organised and controlled approach to all matters related to works and purchases.
• Effective management of all subcontractors related to Technical Services activities engaged by the business to ensure value for money and safe working practice.
• Ensure the Preventative Maintenance database is maintained to a "current status" and that there is strategic approach to the ongoing Compliance and repairs and maintenance of the Resort.
• Deliver comprehensive written monthly reports encompassing financial and operational elements of the Technical Services Division.
• Work closely where needed and where appropriate with the Project Director to provide ongoing on the ground support to major projects.
• Ensure there is an ongoing training programme for all staff with the Technical Services Division to ensure high professional standards are maintained.
• Identify opportunities to enhance the financial performance of the resort through Technical Services initiatives - e.g. the progressive introduction of energy management systems.
