Naval Group Australia is responsible for the design, build and sustainment of Australia's fleet of Future Submarines. It's the largest acquisition contract in Australia's defence history and a scope of work that will span the next 50 years.

 

We now require a Hull Production Manager to join our team. This role will be responsible for the hull/steel workshops in the shipyard. It will require strong leadership and the ability to oversee all aspects of production within the hull and supporting steel workshops.

This role will be based in Adelaide for the Future Submarine build; however the role will be required to spend approximately 2 years in Cherbourg, France, to learn and gain the experience and knowledge of Naval Group hull and steel production processes.

The successful applicant must be eligible for an Australian & French defence security clearance; therefore Australian citizenship is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute in creating shipyard process and procedures in-line with Australian standards;
  • Mentor and lead the workforce on newly developed process and procedures;
  • Coordinate and manage the daily activities for steel production team in line with the schedule;
  • Support the procurement team dealing with the equipment/tooling subcontractors;
  • Oversee all aspects of hull & steel production including: - fabrication, programming & scheduling;
  • Work with the Transfer of Technology team to ensure relevant training plans are implemented.

Key Requirements

  • 8+ years of demonstrated management in a heavy fabrication industry;
  • Experience in managing the financial considerations of the project;
  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering or Trade Qualified;
  • Qualification or experience in relevant production skills (eg welding)

Ideal applicant will have worked in a multinational/cultural environment and have a willingness to learn French (French language knowledge would be an advantage). A leadership professional with strong management skills, supported by excellent communication skills is required for this role.
