Reporting to the Team Leader Electrical Installation Safety, the Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring the electrical trade is compliant with the Electricity Safety Act, pursuant regulations and Australian Standards through the provision of expert technical advice, carrying out investigations, undertaking compliance and enforcement activities.
Key responsibilities include:

Respond to complaints from the trade and the general public in relation to potential breaches of the Act, pursuant regulations, Australian Standards and unsafe electrical practices.

Carry out legal and technical investigations into serious electrical incidents or events where there are potential breaches of the Act, pursuant regulations, Australian Standards or implications for electrical safety.

Write reports of actions undertaken in relation to complaints, events and investigations including the preparation of direction letters and written requests for information.

Write up briefs of evidence and work closely with the legal department to prepare for and assist in prosecutions including laying charges and attending court as an informant.

Lead and/or participate in investigation of serious electrical incidents (including fatalities) and/or provide assistance to other agencies and regulators such as WorkSafe, MFB and CFA as required.
To be considered for this role you will:
To be successful in this role you will be a qualified electrician with a minimum of five years recent broad range electrical installation experience. You will have:
- a sound working knowledge of the legislation, regulations and Australian Standards.
- the ability to work autonomously out in the field and take direction as required.
- personal resilience to attend serious injury and fatality incident scenes.
- excellent interpersonal, influencing and presentation skills.
- a desire to learn and grow within the organisation to develop regulatory skills.
It would be advantageous if you have:
- Experience in auditing.
- Experience in incident investigation.
- Preparedness to complete G class electrical inspector's license.
