Your new company
A renown National Not-for-Profit organisation with a long history of providing high quality service to the North Queensland community. The organisation provides counselling, mediation, family dispute resolution, youth services and community engagement.
Your new role
As a WHS Adviser, you are a member of the Quality Management team. You will be required to provide knowledge, advice and support to ensure work practices are safe and comply with relevant workplace health and safety legislation. Key responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
- Establish a program of site safety audits, deal with staff concerns about safe work practices
- Contribute to the maintenance of a safe environment for staff and clients
- Deliver staff training and remedial action plans to minimise the unsafe practices and behaviours
- Worth with the Quality and HR Management functions to promote and support diversity and respect
- Compilation of hazard identification and risk management plans, and investigate work place incidents
What you'll need to succeed
You will need a demonstrated understand of Work Health and Safety Legislative requirements, including work cover. Highly developed interpersonal skills, communication skills, organisational skills, and ability to work to strict time frames. You will also need a qualification in the following:
- Diploma in Occupational, Health and Safety or equivalent
- Certificate IV or equivalent experience in Training and Assessment
- Completed or willing to complete Fire Safety Advisor training
