Our client, a Toowoomba-based State Government Department, is currently seeking a full-time, permanent Plumbing Teacher (with capacity for job-share if desired) to commence as soon as possible.

Applicants for this position MUST have five years post apprenticeship industry experience, and possess the following qualifications:

• a minimum of Certificate III in Plumbing; AND
• Plumbing Industry Council Licence - Plumber, Drainer & Gasfitter
• A Certificate IV in Plumbing and Services would be highly desirable.

AND

Possession of one of the following training and assessment qualifications:

• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (required units will be advised upon application)
  plus TAELLN411 Address Adult Language, Literacy and Numeracy Skills; OR
• A TAE Skills set (available upon request) and TAELLN411 Address Adult Language, Literacy and Numeracy Skills prior to commencing and working under a supervision agreement until completion of the TAE40116.

Key responsibilities and duties will include:

• Lead and manage teaching and learning for the classroom, industry, distance and web-based clients;
• Display teaching competence/ability to acquire teaching competence;
• Develop effective working relationships with students, client groups and staff
• Ensure that students/clients practice accepted safety procedures
• Contribute to research and planning/programming, development, implementation and review of subjects/courses
• Participate in staff development programs to develop and maintain currency of personal and professional skills
• Establish and moderate evaluation and assessment systems that meet occupational skill standards

Applicants for this position must possess the following skills, experience and attributes:

• Knowledge and an understanding of the education and training sector
• Capacity for best practice in the management of teaching and teaching activities (including delivery, assessment and evaluation)
• A commitment to self-development focussing on qualifications and skills update and current industry practices
• A current driver’s licence
• Accept, promote and manage change and respond to new directions within the training market
• Communication effectively with a variety of stakeholders and within a team

The successful applicant will be required to possess, or be willing to obtain, a Blue Card upon commencement.
