Your new company
Located in the Western suburbs of Melbourne our client is seeking a Maintenance officer to ensure the safety and upkeep of the Aged Care Facility by undertaking a variety of maintenance tasks. Take on the responsibility for on-going repairs and preventative maintenance of building, plant, equipment and furniture whilst also identifying and taking action to prevent health and safety issues to provide a safe environment for residents, staff and visitors.
Your new role
You will be responsible for the repair and maintain the facility and demonstrate a can do easy approach to problem solving on the daily. You will be required to undertake the following however not limited to:
- Patch & Paint
- Changing door locks
- Repairing damaged fixtures
- Furniture removal
- Changing lights
- Basic carpentry
- Basic plumbing
- Other ad hoc duties.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate previous experience within an Aged-care facility or similar. You will be someone that takes direction well and is highly capable of problem solving. You will be capable of working unsupervised as well as in a team environment. As working in an Aged care environment can be demanding it is imperative you have previous Maintenance Officer/Handyman experience in this environment. Strong
communication skills and basic computer skills essential.
To be shortlisted for this role you must hold the following:
- Current Police Check
- White card
- Trade based qualification or more than 3 years’ experience in a maintenance officer position
- Current Victorian driver’s license.
- Working knowledge of Work Health and Safety standards and regulatory maintenance frameworks relating to residential aged care.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Previous experience within Aged Care / Hospital environment or similar
