Reporting to the Senior R&D Engineer this role will help develop innovative and cutting-edge technologies ensuring Hussmann products fulfill relevant performance requirements and are delivered to satisfy the needs of the commercial refrigeration and climate technology sectors.  We seek a candidate that has a strong foundation in heat transfer and refrigeration system performance analysis, modeling, testing and reporting.

Responsibilities:

  • Supports the introduction, integration, and test and validation (T&V) of cutting-edge technologies, innovative energy efficiency and sustainability concepts in refrigerated display and storage cabinets, commercial refrigeration systems, and climate technologies.
  • Contribute to and supports the life cycle of new product/technology development, the project planning and justification, scoping, gating, test and validation, and successful product launching.
  • Supports test planning, set up, execution and report to ensure products meet regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Supports thermal performance and energy modeling (CFD/CHT, heat exchanger design/rating, integrated HVCA&R modeling) to leverage on gaining conceptual insights and scale down duration and effort put in new production/technology development.
  • Carry out technology development/T&V that are transparent, methodical, controlled and effective (DOE, FMEA, RCA, A3) ensuring justifications for new technology developments are well articulated, adequately tracked, reported and supported with data and graphs.
  • Complies with EHS legislation and company EHS management systems.
  • Believe and practice Hussmann behaviour of success as the best workplace practice.

Must possess the following technical competencies

  • Computer and computational literacy in word processing spreadsheet analysis, data acquisition, processing and presentation.  Understanding of how to use Fluent or CFD, Solid Edge, EnergyPlus and Matlab/Octave is a benefit to this role.
  • Demonstration of engineering creativity and hands-on approach to take engineering challenges.
  • Maintains confidentiality and security of intellectual property and business sensitive data and information all the time.
  • Willing to foster interdisciplinary skill to seamlessly collaborate and work with electrical and electronics, manufacturing and other design engineers and external customers.
  • Good oral and written communication skill in English.
  • Understanding of OH&S and environment regulations in Australia.
