We have an exciting opportunity available for an Electrical Technician to join our Power Assets team, at Bungalora in northern NSW, on a full-time, permanent basis.  Reporting to the Manager Field Services Power Assets, you will be a part of the team responsible for the operation and maintenance of APA HVDC power transmission assets.

On a day to day basis, your responsibilities will include the following:

• Actively working to safely manage the transmission line corridor and increasing public safety awareness of the hazard presented by power assets;
• Identifying and rectifying faults to achieve lasting reliability;
• Assisting contractors to complete their work to a high standard;
• Ensuring the safe and reliable operation of the assets through planned and unplanned maintenance;
• Keeping the workplace safe and maintained to a high standard
• Working with customers and team members, identifying opportunities to improve  operational performance to reduce costs of assets;
• Performing high voltage switching, isolation and issuing permits (training candidate will be provided)
• Providing first response maintenance and operations support, on a rostered basis, via telephone and remote computer access;
• Attending asset sites to assist with emergencies, breakdowns and maintenance periods;
• Ensuring all operations and maintenance activities comply with the requirements of the regulatory compliance plans.

This role provides an opportunity to gain hands on experience in a wide variety of operations and maintenance functions. The operating performance of the assets is essential to provide customers with safe and reliable delivery of energy.

To excel in this position you will have the following skills, experience, qualifications and attributes:

• A demonstrated ability to read and understand technical literature;
• Good computer skills, especially in the area of process control systems;
• Experience with safety systems in a heavy industry environment.
• Leadership potential with the ability to gain and share knowledge through coaching;
• A desire to build the strength and capability of the team;
• Ability to problem-solve and pursue issues to a sustainable solution;
• A level of computer literacy applicable to an industrial control system environment;
• Good interpersonal and communications skills;
• Unrestricted Driver’s License;

Although not a requirement, candidates who also present with Electrical trade qualifications will be viewed favourably.
