An exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated Maintenance Fitter currently exists to join our Maintenance team at our Brooklyn Plant. Located just 15 minutes west of the Melbourne CBD, our Brooklyn Plant is a 5 day, multi-species operation with the capacity to process up to 1,400 head of cattle and 8,200 head of small stock per day.  

Our Maintenance team comprises of several Fitters, Electricians and Plumbers. We are now seeking trade qualified Maintenance Fitter to join our weekend roster of 10 hour shifts for either Thursday to Sunday or Friday to Monday. Time and a half is paid for all our worked Saturday and double time for all hours worked Sunday.

Responsibilities

  • Play an active role in the identification and elimination of hazards in the workplace;
  • Exercises trade skills and safe work practices relevant to the specific requirements of JBS;
  • Take responsibility for the completion of all allocated maintenance tasks on machines and equipment;
  • Work under limited supervision either individually or in a team environment;
  • Liaise with the Maintenance Supervisor to understand work commitments and priorities, for the generation and issue of job instructions, work orders, technical information and other reports relating to tasks required to be performed;
  • Communicate with maintenance team members, supervisors and production staff on breakdowns and outstanding work;
  • Identify and propose equipment improvement opportunities;
  • Be able to refer to plant and equipment documentation to gain a higher level of understanding of the plant equipment. 
  • Be willing to take responsibility for small projects and see them through to completion.

Criteria

  • Mechanical trade qualifications and post trade maintenance and repair experience in a fast-pace manufacturing environment;
  • Experience gained in a large, heavy industry organisation will also be considered;
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Effective and efficient fault finding and diagnostic skills;
  • Adherence to OH&S regulations/procedures;
  • High attention to detail; and
  • Ability to work autonomously, and in a team environment.
