Temporary position available within the Water & Wastewater section of a local council in the Central West of NSW. At this stage a work duration of 3-6 months is available - working full time hours including on-call work as/if required. An immediate start of work will be required.
Applicants must hold a current driver licence (Class C as a minimum), White Card and Confined Spaces Certificate as a minimum. Chemical Handling certificate would also be strongly desirable.
You will need to be a genuine team player with a 'can-do' attitude. Effective communication skills and the ability to follow detailed written and verbal work instructions is a must.
We are seeking applicants who have demonstrated experience in the repair and maintenance of water pumps, and also water and wastewater equipment and infrastructure.
Duties of this role will involve undertaking water and wastewater construction and maintenance works such as:
- pipe laying - construction and repair;
- water & wastewater operations, maintenance and repairs;
- reticulation repairs;
- assisting with pump station maintenance and reservoir operations;
- assisting with treatment works operations and maintenance;
- undertaking mains and service maintenance & construction;
- maintaining water and wastewater infrastructure within rural villages;
- reading of water meters;
- undertaking erosion sediment control;
- complete routine water/effluent sampling and testing, accurately recording and reporting of data;
- undertake dam operations and surveillance;
- carry out sewerage treatment plant reporting and returns;
- undertake light plant maintenance and operation (within capabilities and certification).
Applicants will need to be willing and able to work outside of normal hours and complete overtime as required to progress or complete assigned tasks including emergency repair works in accordance with a callout roster.
