Our client, is located in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne, is considered one of the global leaders in the design and manufacture of specialist equipment and components to the defence industry. Unless you have worked in defence you would not have heard of them, they are extremely large and can provide good long term job security - on the proviso you are prepared to work hard and take great pride and care in the quality of the tasks you are assigned.
 
To be considered for these roles, applicants must have a clean police record and be able to provide 100 points of ID - which consists of a Passport or Birth Certificate AND a Current & Full Driver's Licence.  If you can't provide these and or pass the police clearance process, don't apply. This is a MANDATORY requirement to work with companies that supply specialist equipment to the Australian Defence Force.
 
This opportunity will commence immediately and is ongoing, with the view to permanency. We are seeking expressions of interest from applicants who are trade qualified Aircraft Mechanics (Cert 3 or higher), coupled with at least 2-3 years experience ideally within a Wheel, Wheel Bay and/or Undercarriage workshop. This role will involve the assessment and repair of Military Aircraft Wheels, Brakes, Landing Gear and Hydraulic Air Frame Components. The team will be focused on the refurbishment of 10 Main and 6 Nose Wheels a month in addition to a number of other components as a guide.

To be considered for these roles applicants must satisfy the following requirements:
  • Must be an Australian Citizen
  • Have formal Qualifications as an Aircraft Mechanic
  • Have experience in assessing cracks and have proven hand and repair skills with Blending out these imperfections
  • Cracks and Components will be assessed for Corrosion and Depth of Stress Fractures, using a variety of measuring tools and equipment to determine if the part can be fully refurbished or must be written off as scrap
  • Have a willingness to work as part of a team and learn, training and support will be provided where required
  • Possess strong communication skills both verbal and written as the paper trail and requirements around documentation are strict and very involved, with full lot trace of every material source used in repairs and refurbishment
  • Have an exceptional eye for detail with a focus on precision
